PSHE
Our PSHE curriculum aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become active, responsible members of a fast changing British and global society. Through PSHE, students develop self-worth, resilience, and independence, enabling them to make informed choices about their physical, mental, emotional, sexual and economic wellbeing.
Our curriculum follows a spiral model, meaning key topics are revisited throughout Key Stages 3 and 4 at an age-appropriate level. This allows students to deepen their understanding, reflect on their values, and engage thoughtfully with complex issues they may encounter in life.
Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) is a key part of this curriculum, helping students to understand healthy relationships, appropriate behaviours, personal safety, and how to seek support when needed. These lessons play an important role in safeguarding and preparing students for adult life.
Our PSHE curriculum is based on the framework from the PSHE Association and statutory guidance from the Department for Education. It is built around six core themes:
- Rights, Responsibilities & British Values
- Celebrating Diversity & Equality
- Relationships & Sex Education
- Staying Safe Online & Offline
- Health & Wellbeing
- Life Beyond School
