Meet the Headteacher
Headteacher’s Welcome

On behalf of everyone at Hamstead Hall Academy, I am delighted to welcome you to our school. Whether you are a prospective parent / carer, student, member of staff, governor or visitor, I hope our website provides a meaningful insight into life at Hamstead Hall Academy and captures the ambition, opportunity and sense of belonging that define our school community.
For over 50 years, Hamstead Hall Academy has been at the heart of the local community, serving generations of families with pride and distinction. Today, we are immensely proud to be an Ofsted-rated Good school, with Outstanding Leadership and Management, reflecting our steadfast commitment to providing the highest quality education and care for every young person.
Having been part of the Hamstead Hall family for over 20 years and serving as Headteacher since 2022, I consider it a tremendous privilege to lead such a vibrant, inclusive and successful school. Every day, I have the pleasure of working alongside dedicated and talented colleagues who are passionate about helping every member of our community become the very best version of themselves and securing the very best life chances for the young people we serve.
Our mission remains clear: ‘Success for All through Hard Work and Harmony’. This simple but powerful statement underpins everything we do. It shapes our decisions, informs our culture and reinforces our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Our five core values - Pride, Persistence, Patience, Progress and Preparation are at the heart of academy life and reflect the characteristics we seek to develop in every Hamstead Hall learner.
At Hamstead Hall, every person matters. We are proud of our diversity and celebrate the rich cultures, backgrounds and experiences that make our community so special. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where young people feel valued, respected and empowered to be their very best.
Our ambition for students extends far beyond examination results, although we are relentless in our pursuit of academic excellence. We have high expectations of behaviour, attendance, conduct and personal responsibility because we know these habits create the foundations for future success. We expect our students to be committed, respectful, kind and aspirational members of our community.
We offer a broad, ambitious and knowledge-rich curriculum that challenges students to think deeply, develop confidence and cultivate a lifelong love of learning. Alongside this, our extensive enrichment programme provides opportunities for students to discover talents, develop character, build resilience and experience the world beyond the classroom. Whether through sport, performing arts, leadership opportunities, educational visits, community projects or cultural experiences, we believe every child should have access to opportunities that broaden horizons and create lasting memories.
What makes Hamstead Hall truly special, however, is its people. Visitors frequently comment on the warmth, respect and positivity that they encounter throughout the school. There is a genuine sense of belonging here. Students feel known, supported and valued, whilst staff are committed to nurturing both excellence and character.
We are also incredibly proud of our former students, many of whom return to share their journeys and successes with current pupils. Their achievements serve as a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished through hard work, determination and the support of a strong school community.
Our alumni have gone on to achieve remarkable success in a wide range of fields, including becoming a Consultant Neurosurgeon, a Commonwealth Welterweight Boxing Champion and a graduate of the University of Oxford, whilst many others have built successful careers across business, education, healthcare, public service and the creative industries.
As a school, we take great pride in seeing our young people go on to make a positive difference in their professions, communities and society. Perhaps one of the greatest compliments we receive is that so many former students choose to return to Hamstead Hall to train, volunteer and build their careers with us. Having experienced first-hand the impact the school had on their own lives, they are passionate about giving back to the next generation.
Today, a significant number of our staff are former Hamstead Hall students who have chosen to return because of the profound influence the school had on their lives. Their return reinforces the strong sense of belonging that exists here and reflects the lasting influence that Hamstead Hall has on those who pass through its doors
Our ambition is simple: to ensure that every student leaves Hamstead Hall as the very best version of themselves - academically successful, personally confident and equipped with the knowledge, skills and character needed to thrive in the next stage of their education, employment and life. Everything we do is driven by our determination to secure the very best life chances for every child.
Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a family will make. I warmly invite you to visit us and experience Hamstead Hall Academy for yourself. There is no better way to understand our culture than by meeting our students, who are without doubt our greatest ambassadors.
We look forward to welcoming you into the Hamstead Hall family and working in partnership with you. We are incredibly proud of our school and excited about the future that lies ahead.
